Insta360 has introduced the A1, the inaugural 360‑degree drone assembled under its fresh Antigravity brand. The compact machine ships with first‑person‑view goggles and captures footage in stunning 8K resolution.

FreeMotion Flight Control: Intuitive, Joystick‑Free Experience

• A1 harnesses Antigravity’s proprietary FreeMotion technology in tandem with the Vision goggles and Grip controller.
• Instead of fiddling with joysticks, simply point the Grip controller toward the desired direction, and the drone follows.
• The approach resembles DJI’s RC Motion 2 controller (released 2023), which currently powers the Avata, Mini 3 Pro, and Mavic 3.

Transport‑Friendly Design

The drone folds for easy portability and weighs just 249 g (≈0.5 lb), making it suitable for license‑free operations across most countries.

Competition on the Horizon

DJI, which recently launched its first 360 camera (the Osmo 360), is likely to unveil its own 360‑drone soon to compete with A1. Additionally, DJI faces a potential U.S. ban on drone sales later this year. While Antigravity has established a U.S. presence through its Antigravity subsidiary, it remains uncertain whether China‑based Insta360 will encounter hurdles when entering the U.S. market due to national security concerns.

Global Launch Scheduled for January 2026

The A1 drone will be available worldwide, possibly including the U.S., in January 2026. Pricing and bundle details will be disclosed closer to the launch date.
