Aira Pledges £300M to Power 1 Million UK Homes Away From Gas

Aira Goes to the UK: A £300 Million Clean Energy Push

Budgets are tight, but so is our planet. Aira – the Swedish clean‑energy start‑up – is stepping onto British soil with a bold promise: £300 million over three years to crack the heat‑pump market wide open.

Why the UK Matters

  • Britain still carries 25 million fossil‑fuel boilers, accounting for 16 % of national CO₂ emissions.
  • Heat pumps could slash those numbers dramatically – cut CO₂ like taking two million cars off the road.
  • Government target: 600,000 heat‑pump installs a year by 2028.

Aira’s Big Promise

“We’re going to serve five million homes across Europe – one million in Britain – with cheap, user‑friendly tech that makes fossil fuels a thing of the past.”

  • All‑inclusive plan – no upfront costs, a 10‑year Comfort Guarantee, and a 30‑day ‘order‑to‑installation’ commitment.
  • With a full Aira ecosystem (smart heat pumps, solar panels, battery storage, tailored tariffs), households can save over 55 % on energy bills and drop emissions by 75 %.
  • Households save 25 % on heating when they switch to an air‑source heat pump.

The Team Behind the Move

Aira UK now has 200 specialists, part of a global network of 600 members. Since June 2023, the company also acquired Sheffield-based All Seasons Energy – giving them local expertise to speed up the rollout.

To grow the renewable workforce, Aira is opening two Aira Academies – one in London, one in Yorkshire – training thousands of Clean Energy Experts. Their mission: power a million UK homes and build tomorrow’s green workforce.

What the Leaders Have to Say

Martin Lewerth, Group CEO: “The UK is a critical market to decarbonise. One of Europe’s most populated countries with only 1 % heat‑pump penetration. We’re thrilled to offer a zero‑upfront solution that saves money and protects the planet.”

Daniel Särefjord, UK CEO: “Heat pumps are the best, most efficient way to heat homes. They’re four times more efficient than gas boilers and reduce bills by 25 %. The Government knows the UK’s homes are ready.”

Energy Security Secretary Claire Coutinho: “Our families shouldn’t have to choose between cutting costs and cutting emissions. The boiler upgrade scheme now offers £7,500 grants, and we’re delighted with Aira’s £300 m investment – it’s creating 8,000 jobs and powering the green transition.”
