Big Shake‑Up at Centrica and British Gas
Heads up: this year the company will axe 5,000 jobs, including a major purge of three management layers to make the whole thing leaner and faster.
Who’s Got to Go?
- Half the 5,000 cutbacks target management and corporate staff.
- About 20 of the company’s 40 senior leaders will be stepping down by August.
CEO Chris O’Shea Speaks
“Since stepping into the CEO role almost three months ago, I’ve been steering the ship through the Covid‑19 storm while figuring out what really needs to be reworked at Centrica,” Chris says. “The crisis has shown us we’re capable of being nimble even when the going gets tough, and that our customers must stay front and center in every decision.”
He adds, “I’m truly sorry that these tough choices are necessary and I know the impact on the teammates leaving us. Nonetheless, these changes are designed to stop our decline, refocus on our customers, and build a sustainable future.”
