Energy firms told to return £400m to customers

The “Big Six” energy companies are being ordered to return more than £400m to customers, after Ofgem found the money was being held in closed accounts.

Ofgem CEO Andrew Wright is expected to tell Centrica’s British Gas, EDF, SSE, Eon, Scottish Power and RWE npower to do the right thing, according to Sky News.

The energy firms will probably respond by attesting that they have struggled to return monies to customers, who may have moved home or switched supplier.
