London Met Police Crack Down on Supercar Nuisance
Central London’s upscale streets have long seen a parade of high‑end cars, from Ferraris to Lamborghinis and Bentleys. Their roaring engines and reckless speeds, particularly around West End shopping districts, have become a public nuisance.
Three‑Day Operation: A Swift Response
Starting on August 8, the Metropolitan Police launched a focused action that lasted three days, seizing 72 luxury vehicles worth more than $8 million. The confiscated cars were either unroadworthy or being driven illegally.
Targets and Offenses
- Driving without valid insurance, license, or while disqualified
- Using false vehicle documentation
- Employing fraudulent registration plates
- Plundered and stolen cars included in the haul
Further Criminal Findings
During the investigation, authorities uncovered additional unlawful activities, leading to eight arrests. The charges covered:
- Actual bodily harm
- Criminal damage
- Drug offences
- Theft
- Immigration violations

Special Chief Officer James Deller of the Met’s Special Constabulary emphasized the shift:
“The Met is committed to tackling anti‑social behavior. This operation responds to legitimate concerns from residents, businesses, and visitors about high‑value vehicles creating a nuisance in hotspots across Central and West London.”
