In the bustling world of UK rail stations, Network Rail Property just pulled off a retail triumph that would leave even the most seasoned commuters impressed.
Big Numbers, Bigger Smiles
- Top‑line sales rose +7 % across all 19 managed stations.
- Like‑for‑like (LfL) sales jumped a solid +7.7 %.
- Quarter‑over‑quarter, the total hit a sweet £240.5 million, up more than £16 million from 2023.
- Previous quarter bragged a jump of +£7 million.
- Year‑to‑date 2024 sales > £900 million; the first three quarters of the new fiscal year already at £701 million.
New Faces & Pop‑Up Craze
In Q3 the rail network welcomed 24 fresh retail partners: 3
new brands and 6 pop‑ups. Highlights include:
- Paddington’s “Peru Pop‑Up” – a quick detour to South American flavors.
- London Bridge’s “Duck World” – the only place where you can actually talk to a duck.
- Two GAIL stores, one in London Bridge, another at Liverpool Street.
London’s Lively Leaders
For the third straight quarter, London Waterloo stole the spotlight, with total sales surging +24.2 % from the last quarter. Following close is Euston, up 13.5 % year‑on‑year.
When we look at LfL performance:
- Charing Cross led with a +13.1 % gain.
- Just a hair behind, Victoria lapped in with +12 %.
- Grocery saw the strongest LfL lift across the board, trailed by “Cards & Stationery.”
Regions All Up!
Every one of Network Rail’s five regions earned a positive LfL bump:
- Eastern, North West, and Central up 8 % y/y.
- North West & Central led total sales, bouncing up 11 % from 2023.
