Trump said that Washington will resume normal ties with Damascus after lifting all US sanctions on Syria which have been in place for 46-years.
The two Presidents met prior to a conference on the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as part of Trump’s Middle East tour.
A White House spokesperson said that Trump suggested that Sharaa should “deport Palestinian terrorists” and sign the Abraham accords, this will then in turn normalise relations between Syria and Israel.
Trump told the GCC, I am “ordering the cessation of sanctions against Syria to give them a fresh start.
“It gives them a chance for greatness. The sanctions were really crippling, very powerful.”
