TG Lynes Turns the Roof into a Green Powerhouse
Just two years after installing a state‑of‑the‑art solar PV system, TG Lynes is declaring victory: the roof’s panels have already erased an amount of carbon equivalent to planting over 1,500 trees!
What the Numbers Say
- Carbon saved so far: 25,129.03 kg – that’s about 1,518 trees.
- Electricity produced: more than 130 MWh.
- Energy share: 35%+ of the company’s daily consumption comes from the sunnier source.
- Grid contribution: 24.25 MWh fed back, brightening the nation’s grid.
- Peak summer output: >10 MWh in a single sunny July.
Lights, Panels, Action!
The same day the panels were switched on, TG Lynes swapped out its old bulbs for energy‑saving LED lights. Together, those two upgrades saved more than 30,000 kg of carbon in the first two years.
Fleet‑Fuelled by the Sun
The excess energy powers the company’s car fleet, now 100% hybrid or electric, with 40% of the vehicles being fully electric.
Alternative Fuels for a Cleaner Commute
Two of the 18‑tonne Euro 6 trucks now run on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), cutting CO₂ emissions from 3.6 tonnes per 1,000 litres of diesel to a mere 195 kg per 1,000 litres.
Waste Not, Want Not
TG Lynes’ red‑carpet waste policy extends to everyday items: all plastic wrap and bags are recycled, and the workwear is made from 100% recycled plastic.
Leadership on the Green Path
Andrew Ingram, Managing Director says, “We made a bold move in installing the solar panels, and the data backs us up. We’re thrilled with the contribution and are already planning more sustainable steps across energy, delivery, sourcing, and waste.”
As a One‑Stop Shop for Sustainability
Beyond internal green wins, TG Lynes supplies thousands of industry‑leading products – valves, steel & copper tubes, presses, composite plumbing, drainage solutions, and tooling – plus a full plant hire service.
With power humming from the roof and an eye on every operation facet, TG Lynes is steering itself firmly toward a truly sustainable future.
